Seneca Valley Raiders Bank Payback Victory Against Central Catholic Vikings

After a 20-point loss to the Vikings on the road, Seneca Valley dominates Central Catholic on its home court.

and the Central Catholic Vikings met on the Raiders' home court Friday night for a second section matchup of the season. 

It was not a repeat performance.

The Raiders played their first game against the Vikings in December on Central Catholic's home turf and lost by 20 points. On Friday, they won by one point.

The 48-47 victory came down to 1.3 seconds remaining in the game. Seneca Valley led 48-44 when Central Catholic's senior guard Lincoln Davis sank a three-pointer from mid-court at the buzzer. 

It was too little, too late.

Led by seniors Alex Maxfield, Chad Albert and Austin Bream, SV was in control 15-9 at the end of the first quarter. Albert set a record as Seneca Valley's all-time leading dunker when he slammed a couple of shots in the second quarter, raising cheers from the Raiders fans.

With a score of 24-18, Seneca Valley maintained a healthy lead going into the half. Albert, senior Matt Smith, and junior R. J. McCauley all added points to the board. 

In the third quarter, Central Catholic's guards Davis, Christian Joiner, Mike Anselmo and forwards Claude Scott and Matt Hoge scored for a combined 18 points. At the end of the third quarter the score was 37-36.

The fourth quarter saw turnovers on both sides, but the Raiders held the lead throughout. Key shots at the foul line by SV's Maxfield and Albert helped cement the Raiders' victory.

Final score: Seneca Valley 48—Central Catholic 47
