Seneca Valley Marching Band Getting ‘Fresh’ New Look

The Seneca Valley Marching Band will have a new look when they take to the football field at NexTier Stadium next fall.

At Monday’s meeting, school board members unanimously approved the purchase of new band uniforms from DeMoulin Brothers & Co. of Greenville, Ill. at a cost of $96,990.

The price is more than $20,000 below the $118,000 Seneca Valley officials originally estimated the uniforms would cost.

Linda Andreassi, Seneca Valley’s director of communications, said band officials began exploring pricing and options for new uniforms at the start of school year. They eventually settled on DeMoulin Brothers based on the quality of a sample uniform, said Assistant Superintendent Dr. Matt McKinley.

“It was an extremely extensive search and very thorough,” Andreassi said.

The new garb will replace the district’s 12-year-old band uniforms, which Superintendent Dr. Tracy Vitale has said were falling into disrepair and often in need of mending.       

McKinley said the district ordered enough uniforms to outfit 250 students. The black and Columbia Blue uniforms should arrive in time for the annual Seneca Valley Marching Band Pie Festival in August.

McKinley described the new uniforms as taking a “fresh” spin on the classic design, but added the jackets and pants will be instantly "recognizable as Seneca Valley."

“It’s very impressive,” he said.

As for the cost, is giving

The band’s booster organization and the band foundation also has agreed to pay 20 percent of the costs for new uniforms over a three-year period, Andreassi said.
