Seneca Valley Hoopsters Drop 1-Point Nail-Biter to Rival NA

The Raiders dominate the first half with a 10 point lead, but the Tigers rally in the second half to pull ahead by one point with seven seconds remaining in the game.

From the beginning, it looked as though s boys varsity basketball team was on course to beat the rival North Allegheny Tigers in Friday's Section3-AAAA game on the Tigers' home court.

Led by seniors Chad Albert, Alex Maxfield and Austin Bream, Seneca Valley had the Tigers on their heels 22-13 at the end of the first quarter. While NA's Ricky Minsterman rallied to put 10 points on the board in the second quarter, the Raiders still led 39-29 at the half.

In the third quarter, however, an aggressive NA defense contested the Raiders for every inch of the court.

Seneca Valley clawed back into the lead, 58-57, with 1:19 left in the game. The momentum seemed to be shifting in the Raiders' direction before a 3-pointer by junior Adam Haus bounced around the rim and dropped.

The Tigers were back in the lead 60-58. An opportunity at the foul line put the Raiders within one point, but a last attempt at the buzzer didn't pull the Raiders ahead.
