Seneca Valley Hires New Haine Principal

Daniel DiDesiderio replaces Steven Smith at the middle school.

A new face is taking over the reigns at Haine Middle School.

At Monday’s school board meeting, Seneca Valley officials hired Daniel DiDesiderio as the school’s new principal. 

He replaces longtime administrator Steven Smith, who resigned last month to take a position as principal in the neighboring Pine-Richland School District.

DiDesiderio, who previously served as principal of J.W. Burkett Elementary in the Montour School District, will be paid a salary of $91, 350 in his new role.

DiDesiderio also spent seven years in the Greenville Area School District teaching music, band, and chorus. Later, he was named assistant principal of East and Hempfield Elementary schools in Greenville.

While teaching, and as an administrator, DiDesiderio's students earned high honors in academics and extra-curricular activities, a statement from Seneca Valley said.

He also has administrative experience in developing elementary curriculum, professional development opportunities and strategies for student success.

DiDesiderio earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education, his Master's Degree in School Administration and his Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from Westminster College. 

He currently is working on his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University, which he expects to complete in May. 

According to Seneca Valley, DiDesiderio's philosophy of education centers on providing students with multiple opportunities for success through diverse and challenging school programs.
