In a dramatic finish, the boys varsity basketball team defeated last year's PIAA quarterfinal champion Butler Golden Tornadoes.

A four-minute overtime battle between the Section 3-AAAA boys basketball team and the Butler Golden Tornadoes kept everyone at the edge of their seats Tuesday.

Seneca Valley emerged victorious in the battle played out on the Raiders' home court, defeating the Tornadoes, 49-48.

The lead went back and forth in the first half with the Raiders up 10-8 in the first quarter and the Tornadoes leading 22-19 at the half.

Both teams were strong defensively. SV point guards Matt Smith, Easton Bazzoli and Alex Maxfield put four points each on the board. Senior point guard Nate Snodgrass posted 14 of Butler's 22 points.

Third quarter action found the Raiders leading again, 35-30.

With 4:33 left in regulation play, the score was tied at 39. With 4.1 seconds left to go, SV was up 45-42. It looked as though it was over for the Tornadoes, then Snodgrass was fouled—resulting in three foul shots.

Over the roaring of Raiders fan, a calm and collected Snodgrass stepped up to the line and scored all three shots with less than a second left in the game. As the buzzer rang, the score was tied, 45-45.

In the four minutes of overtime, Butler drew two fouls and made three points. The Raiders' Maxfield also drew a foul, and his resulting points brought the Raiders within a one-point deficit.

Junior Keenan Bazzoli's shot with 3.6 seconds left to go cemented Seneca Valley's lead. Despite a last-minute Snodgrass shot that bounced off the rim as the buzzer rang, the lead held.
