Seneca Valley Boys Post 59-44 Victory Over Rival Pine-Richland Rams

After a slow start, the Raiders run away from the Rams in the fourth quarter of Friday's game.

varsity boys basketball team got off to a rocky start in Friday's matchup against the rival Pine-Richland Rams.

With turnovers and other mistakes in the first quarter, the Raiders trailed, 22-26, at the half on Pine-Richland's home court.

In the third quarter, however, seniors Alex Maxfield and Austin Bream and junior Easton Bazzoli helped Seneca Valley leap ahead of the Rams and maintain a lead for the rest of a physical game. The Raiders went on to defeat Pine-Richland, 59-44.

While a strong Rams defense kept Seneca Valley from scoring in the first half, the Raiders regrouped at halftime. A two-for-two at the foul line by senior Chad Albert put Seneca Valley in the lead, 29-28, with 5:28 remaining in the third quarter.

Although Pat Sullivan contributed a couple of three-pointers for Pine-Richland, Seneca Valley pulled ahead at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter belonged to Maxfield, who scored nine of his 14 points for the evening in the game's last moments. The Raiders' defense also held the Rams to 10 points in the final quarter.

Final Score: Raiders, 59 - Pine-Richland, 44
