Photo Album: Raiders Girls Soccer Team Tames Rival NA Tigers

Seneca Valley trounces North Allegheny in soggy, lopsided contest.

You can't say that Seneca Valley is a fair-weather team.

Not even the constant rain could slow down the Raiders girls soccer team Wednesday as they defeated the North Allegheny Tigers 7-1 in the first of three section games scheduled for the week.

The SV/NA matchup is long-standing rivalry, and both teams came out blazing. While battle in the midfield was charged, the Tigers seemed to have the upper hand early in the first half.

Then forward Morgan Williams opened the Raider floodgates.

Williams delivered a shot that hit the left side of the post and ricocheted into the goal. It wasn't long before she followed it up with a second goal on a cross by teammate Alex Bilka. Raider defender Raegan Dobbins and midfielder Sarah Stevens put two more points on the board before the clock ran out, and the Raiders went into halftime with a 4-0 lead.

North Allegheny rallied in the second half, keeping SV keeper Jess Neill busy. Senior defender Leah Langhans  scored NA's only goal of the night about eight minutes into the half on a free kick, making it a 4-1 game. But the Lady Raiders' offensive reign was not over. Seneca finished off the half with three more goals from Katie Riley, Bilka, and Kimmie Richards.

Final score:  7-1
