New Faces Running for Seneca Valley School Board in Primary Election

A handful of new faces will be running for Seneca Valley’s school board in the May primary election.

Frederick V. Peterson, Jr., of Cranberry, has cross-filed to run on the Democratic and Republican ticket for the Cranberry Township West IV and West VI, Region 4 area currently represented by school board member Jason Wehrle.

Wehrle, a lawyer from Cranberry whose first term expires this year, has chosen not to run for the board in 2013.

Two Cranberry residents, Timothy Hester and Judi Rexford, also are vying for the Cranberry Township East III and West V, Region 5 seat that will be vacated by Eric Gordon.

Gordon, who is finishing up his first four-year term on the school board, announced in January that he would run on the Republican ticket for the Cranberry Township Board of Supervisors.

Both Hester and Rexford, a frequent attendee at Seneca Valley school board, meetings, cross-filed to run on the Republican and Democratic tickets.

Several familiar faces also are making another run for seats on the board.

School board member Jeanette Lahm, of Cranberry, is running unopposed on the Democratic and Republican ticket for a four-year term representing the Cranberry Township East I and II, Region 1 area.

School Board vice-president Eric DiTullio also cross-filed for the Republican and Democratic nomination. A Harmony resident, he is running uncontested to represent the Lancaster and Forward townships, Region 8 area.

In addition, Evans City resident James Welsh is running unopposed for the Republican nomination for the Callery and Harmony Boroughs and Jackson Township, Region 9 area. He did not cross-file to run on the Democratic ticket.

DiTullio, Lahm and DiTullio were all elected to their first terms in office in 2009. 

The successful candidates in the spring primary will move on to the November general election.
