Jennings Environmental Education Center Offers Astronomy Program

Jennings Environmental Education Center, in partnership with the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh (AAAP), will offer an astronomy program on Sunday, March 13.  An indoor presentation will be followed by outdoor observation of the moon, stars and planets (weather conditions permitting) through telescopes belonging to members of the association.

Learning how to see, understand and appreciate the wonders of the night sky can lead to a journey of discovery and a lifetime hobbyIn his presentation, George Guzik, former president of AAAP, will consider astronomy in the context of our culture; explain the basics of celestial objects and tools for viewing them; and offer tips for getting started in the pursuit of astronomical knowledge.  Afterwards, members of the Association will set up their telescopes for viewing, while they share their enthusiasm and expertise.  Personal telescopes and binoculars are welcome but not required.
