Cranberry Hosts Backyard Composting Class

Find a good use for your winter lawn debris.  A two-hour session of Cranberry’s popular Backyard Composting class will take place beginning at 7:00 Thursday evening, April 14.  Composting is the transformation of plant matter into a nutrient-rich soil-like material through decomposition.  It is a natural form of recycling which continually occurs in nature.

Instruction for the program, which is sponsored by Cranberry Township, is provided by members of the Butler County Master Gardeners Association.  The class will meet in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Road.

Advance registration is required.  Enrollment is limited to Cranberry residents and to no more than 50 participants.  A $10 registration fee is payable at the time of registration.  At the conclusion of the session, everyone participating receives an Earth Machine backyard compost bin – a $70 retail value.
