Celebrating A Gluten Free Lifestyle

Celebrating a Gluten Free Lifestyle

The Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) of Western Pennsylvania and the Allegheny Center for Digestive Health( home of the Celiac Center in Pittsburgh), are hosting a "Celebrating a Gluten Free Lifestyle" conference on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Four Points Sheraton in Mars, PA.
The event will be free and open to the public from 8:30am to 1:30pm.
We will also be collecting gluten free food for our local food banks.
This event dedicated to providing information for those who live with celiac disease or need to avoid gluten because of other medical and health related reasons or know someone who does. We also want to raise celiac awareness. We strive to inform, entertain and inspire by way of lectures, personal stories and delicious gluten free sampling at our event.

Gluten is a protein composite found in foods processed from wheat and related species, including barley and rye. Gluten sensitivity (also gluten intolerance) is a spectrum of disorders, including celiac disease and wheat allergy, in which gluten has an adverse effect on the body. It can be defined as a non-allergic and non-autoimmune condition in which the consumption of gluten can lead to symptoms similar to those observed in celiac disease or wheat allergy (other conditions which fall under the gluten-related disorders spectrum).
