Backyard Composting Class

Put your autumn leaves to good use.  A two-hour session of Cranberry’s popular Backyard Composting class will take place on Oct. 24.  Composting is the transformation of plant matter into a nutrient-rich soil-like material through decomposition.  It is a natural form of recycling, but it is one that people can replicate and accelerate at home with the proper tools and training.

Instruction for the program, which is sponsored by Cranberry Township, is provided by members of the Butler County Master Gardeners Association.  The class will meet in the Library Meeting Room of the Municipal Center.

Advance registration is required.  Enrollment is limited to Cranberry residents and to no more than 50 participants. At the conclusion of the session, everyone participating receives an Earth Machine backyard compost bin – a $70 retail value.
