Cold Weather Causes Seneca Valley to Issue Two-Hour Delay For Wednesday

Kindergarten will run on a modified schedule.

After two days off because of Martin Luther King Day Monday and a previously scheduled in-service day Tuesday, Seneca Valley students will get a late start to class Wednesday.

Due to the extremely cold temperatures in the area, the district is on a two-hour delay with modified kindergarten for Jan. 23.

When Seneca Valley calls for a two-hour delay, the kindergarten schedule is as follows:

  • CVE/Haine/Rowan/Evans City AM Kindergarten: Arrival - 10:40 a.m.; Dismissal - 12:35 p.m.
  • CVE/Haine/Rowan PM Kindergarten: PM Arrival - 1:20 p.m.; PM Dismissal - 3:15 p.m.
  • Evans City PM K Arrival is 1:15 p.m.; PM K Dismissal is 3:15 p.m.

Cranberry’s Center for Early Education also will run on a modified schedule.

Morning preschool will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Afternoon preschool will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. All other programs will run as scheduled.

St. Kilian Parish School in Cranberry, which follows Seneca Valley for closings and delays, also will have a two-hour delay Wednesday.

The area remains under a wind chill advisory through 11 a.m. Wednesday. With the wind chill, temperatures are expected to dip to 10 to 20 degrees below zero Tuesday night moving into Wednesday.

Temperatures also will be in the single digits to close to zero Wednesday morning, according to weather service.
