2011 Election Central: Seneca Valley School Board

A few new faces will join the board in 2012.

There were no surprises Tuesday in the race for the as the winners from May's primary election moved on to victory in the general election.

Robert J. Hill Jr., Jim Nickel, Reid Moon and Kelly Kopera were elected to four four-year terms. Two of the contested races were . The other two races were uncontested.

A Cranberry Township resident, Nickel was elected on the Republican and Democratic ballots after cross-filing for Region 2 representing Cranberry Township.

, a benefits consultant from Evans City, also cross-filed to run and was elected on both party tickets. She defeated incumbent board member for the Region 7 seat in the May primary representing Evans City and Seven Fields. Scalamogna ran on only the Republican ticket.

Incumbent board President . also easily won the general election after running unopposed for a seat in Region 3.

In Region 6, was victorious in an uncontested race. Moon staged a successful last-minute write-in campaign during the May primary to win the empty seat representing Zelienople. There were no official candidates on the ballot.
