The Sweet Life
I've found a new replacement for my favorite, sugary treats. Thank goodness!
I’m so happy to report that I have a new regular hang-out spot.
It’s Bartram House Bakery and I am obsessed. I will take any, literally any, excuse to “swing by” and buy a big box of French macaroons.
(French macaroons became really trendy not too long ago and I always thought they were really pretty, delicate-looking cookies, but I actually started eating them when I found Bartram House and I have to say they’re not just popular because they look nice.)

When I lived in San Diego, I always got my sweet fix from Sprinkles Cupcakes. They’re so sugary and I would also take any excuse to buy a box. Roommate had a bad day? Sprinkles can fix it! Got off work early? Let’s celebrate with Sprinkles! You blinked today? Commemorate it with Sprinkles! There’s never a reason not to have a Sprinkles cupcake.
It took me a little while, but I’ve filled that void, I’ve filled it with crunchy cookies and crème-filled goodness.

Everyone who’s lived in the same place for a while knows the importance of the favorite hang-out spot. I mean, they made a show about it (Cheers anyone?).
In addition to Sprinkles, there was a bar near my house that I would frequent anywhere from one to three times a week. And yes, I do very much enjoy beer, but I primarily went for the mouth-watering, heart-stopping French fries. I felt really comfortable there, everyone knew me and I never had to read a menu. So moving to a totally new place and not having any familiar spots was a little unnerving, since it became such an integral part of my routine.
But I’m glad that the Bartram House macaroons and I have found each other. I’m definitely in no danger of being underfed, and it’s helping to fill out my new little life here in Pittsburgh.
