I Love the Grocery Store

The Giant Eagle Market District has given me more reason to love my new city.

I don’t know how to put this delicately, but being from a major city in Southern California, I was expecting my move to the area to result in a big downgrade in terms of culture and restaurants. San Diego is known for being a “foodie” city and I’m definitely one.

However, I am happy to say that I’ve been delightfully proven wrong. I’ve been trying to seize every opportunity to try new places out here and have eaten a lot of good food and been to a lot of great places.

That being said, sometimes the simple things are the most important. Last weekend, I was out with my family and we stopped by the new Giant Eagle Market District in Pine Township. I can’t stop telling everyone about it.

I have never seen a grocery store like it before. But best of all, they have a huge bakery and sweets section.

I’m sure by now there are almost no people who are unaware of the cupcake trend. I’m definitely no exception. Sprinkles, which is originally an Los Angeles chain, was one of my favorite San Diego sweet spots and, at $4 a pop, it was well worth it. So, imagine my joy when I discovered Market District’s succulent red velvet cupcakes that are less than a dollar each.

It has definitely been difficult not being able to spend time at my local hangouts, but I’ve been trying to embrace the new places here to discover and it’s been a good experience.

Now I have a growing list of places to check out and try to which I am looking forward.
