Weekend Closure Rescheduled for I-79 North in Butler County

The closure will take place later this month.

A planned closure this weekend for northbound Interstate 79 near the Evans City exit has been rescheduled for later this month, a statement from PennDOT District 10 said today.

The closure for overhead sign installation and centerline joint repairs will occur between 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 and 5 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30.

The schedule below outlines the closures on I-79 in Butler County:

  • I-79 Northbound will close at Exit 83 (Evans City, State Route 528).  The detour is as follows:
  • Exit I-79 North at Exit 83 (Evans City, Route 528).
  • Make a left onto Route 528. Follow 528 West to Route 19.
  • Make a right onto Route 19. Follow Route 19 North to State Route 488.
  • Make a right onto Route 488.  Follow Route 488 East to I-79 Northbound on-ramp at Exit 96 (Portersville/Prospect, Route 488).
  • Make a left onto I-79 North.
