Damaging Storms Miss Cranberry Township

Cranberry Township issues tips for dealing with severe heat wave.

The heat wave is predicted to continue in our area, but the good news is that escaped most of the damages reported elsewhere after the storms last night.

Township Manager Jerry Andree said no power outages and no flooding occurred in the township during yesterday’s storms.

“We did get 2.1 inches of rain which was desperately needed, but we were lucky to escape some of the things that other areas around us were hit with,” he said.

Cranberry officials did offer suggestions on the township website for keeping cool during the current heat wave. Their tips include: drink plenty of fluids; pace yourself in the heat to avoid heat exhaustion; and wear loose-fitting, light-weight clothing.

Those who have young children or the elderly should take particular care to avoid prolonged exposure to heat. Several Cranberry Township buildings are air-conditioned and welcoming to the public, including the . The township also encourages community members to visit the open from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
