Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued

Storms packing winds in excess of 60 mph, according to National Weather Service.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:15 p.m. for northern Allegheny County and other areas.

At 5:07 p.m. the service's Doppler radar indicated a line of scattered severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, according to the NWS.

"Wind damage with this storm will occur well ahead of any rain or lightning," the weather service said. "Do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover. Seek shelter immediately inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows."
