Public Hearings Slated Next Week for Cranberry Crossroads, Freedom Road Sheetz

Developments could be approved at next week's Board of Supervisors meeting.

will accept public comment on the proposed shopping center at the next Board of Supervisors meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 4.

Planned for Route 228 next to the already-established Cranberry Commons shopping plaza, Cranberry Crossroads consists of 98,940 square feet of retail space with a two-story Dick’s Sporting Goods store at its center.

The development also includes 90,000 square feet of business and professional office space, a 6,300-square-foot restaurant and a 5,569-square-foot GetGo fueling station and car wash on 24 acres of land.

ECHO Realty, a Pittsburgh-based real estate and retail development company, is developing the retail space. Pittsburgh's Elmhurst Group is responsible for the office space.

Cranberry's Planning Advisory Commission members on Monday . At the developers choosing, the planning commission did not approve the restaurant or the . Ron Henshaw, Cranberry’s director of community development, said the developers held off on approval for the restaurant because they are still seeking a tenant for the space. Plans for the GetGo were not ready, he said.

At the same meeting, residents also will have a chance to give their thoughts on the 6,558 square foot and convenience store that is going before township supervisors for approval. The plans also include a 1,049 freestanding car wash.

Planned for the site of a former beer distributor on Old Freedom Road, the proposed gas station would be built about 300 feet from a smaller Sheetz station that’s been on Freedom Road for the last 15 years.

If the project receives township approval, David Mastrostefano, engineering permit manager for Sheetz, has said he hopes to start construction next year.

ECHO’s Phil Bishop said groundbreaking on Cranberry Crossroads could begin by late summer or early fall.
