PA Republicans: Paul Ryan a Strong VP Choice

Red Keystone Snap Poll shows strong support for Mitt Romney's choice among Pennsylvania Republicans.

A snap Red Keystone survey of GOP activists in Pennsylvania by Patch shows strong support for U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney’s

Ryan as vice presidential nominee will help galvanize Republican voters in the Keystone State, according to more than two-thirds of respondents.

More than half also say Ryan will help the GOP ticket win undecided voters.

Respondents aren’t concerned that Democrats can win by running against Ryan's existing budget plans and particularly his proposal for Medicare.

Several respondents noted that Ryan will help the GOP win young voters. But one Republican commented, “I don't believe that a VP pick ultimately changes elections. Perhaps the last time it did was in 1960.”

Here are other comments on Ryan from Pennsylvania Republicans who replied to an automated survey sent by Patch:

  • He is a man with a substantive fiscal plan, the best hope for a truly honest discussion of our fiscal problems. Unlike almost all other politicians, he calls a spade a spade.
  • His 14 years in Congress gives insight, strength and balance to Romney's experience as a governor.
  • It takes the focus of the race to the economy, which will help Romney.
  • It sends a clear message that a President Romney will be serious about tackling the deficit.
  • This may galvanize the ‘Audit the Fed’ crowd, but unless they come forward with real fiscal arguments that reasonable voters can accept and convince people the deficit must be solved, they will not be able to get much traction in Pennsylvania.
  • Rep. Ryan brings a clear vision to a campaign that, so far, had been severely lacking in detail.
  • Returns discussion to fiscal policy, not tax returns.
  • He is a fiscal conservative. He has the fullest understanding of any possible candidate of the breadth and scope of the fiscal disaster and the resulting crash in our economy and the crushing of our individual liberty and freedom.

Our surveys are not a scientific random sample of any larger population but rather an effort to listen to a swath of influential local political activists, party leaders and elected officials in Pennsylvania.

All of these individuals have agreed to participate in the surveys, although not all responded to questions Saturday about U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan.

Patch will be conducting Red Keystone and Blue Keystone surveys throughout 2012 in hopes of determining the true sentiment of conservatives and liberals on the ground in Pennsylvania.

If you are an activist, party leader or elected official and would like to take part in occasional surveys that last just a few minutes, please email Cindi.Lash@patch.com or Timothy.McAteer@patch.com

@OC... Obviously. But I'm not aware of this commercial or Hollywood deal. Is it the Act of Valor movie that was released this year? I'm not sure where this complaint is coming from.
cc August 16, 2012 at 10:53 pm
ml obama used the tapes from the mission of Seal Team 6 in one of his commercials for him campaigning for president. guess you don't understand what he was saying in what i posted as usual. so sick and tired of your attitude and your not worth it.
cc August 16, 2012 at 11:02 pm
Mike if you go to the link I posted and watch the video, they show pictures of obama addressing hollywood right after Bin Laden was killed and was giving them all the info that they need for a movie. Obama did not want to hid it as he made an announcement right after it happened. Also in one of his commercials he has pictures of Seal Team 6 in action on how he killed Bin Laden. obama can't keep national secrets. It is a very interesting video but you just want to talk about the book Manhunt, which btw is an awesome book. Even Seal Team 6 says that obama didn't kill Bin Laden. ml is great quoting other people's words from blog sites.

Special ops group attacks Obama over bin Laden bragging, leaks
http://news.yahoo.com/special-ops-group-attacks-obama-over-bin-laden-011757844.html "In an interview, Taylor denied OPSEC had any political slant. He described the group as a "watchdog organization" but added that the current administration "has certainly leaked more than others."
cc August 16, 2012 at 11:07 pm
"Fred Rustmann, a former undercover case officer for the CIA who is a spokesman for the group, insisted its focus on leaks was "not a partisan concern." But he said the current administration had been leaking secrets "to help this guy get re-elected, at the expense of peoples' lives.... We want to see that they don't do this again."

Marcy you are so correct in what your saying. Congratulations to all you accomplished in your life. One thing I noticed in life it is the Republicans that do the volunteering and the Democrats with their hands out. I would love to see Romney/Ryan get all the fakers off Social Security and off welfare. The truly disabled and older Americans are the only ones that should be getting Social Security, Medicare and Welfare. Not the ones that fake injuries but can go golfing, run marathons, take lavish vacations that milk our system. Social Security, Medicare and Welfare all need overhauling and Romney/Ryan are the right people to get fakers off it and to get Americans back working again. Plus anyone that is in our country illegally shouldn't be allowed any type of help.

ml it is a total shame that Baldwin is stuck with you the crazy lady that is an expert on ignorance. Can bet your neighbors will throw a big party when your gone.

No one is being shut out to vote, they had 8 months to go get photo id. They still have till Oct 8, 2012 to change names, go get an ID. The procrastinators will wait till the last day or after the cutoff date to do it, but they will still be able to file a provisional vote.

@cc... I'm not going to watch the video because I've made a pledge this election season to not watch any commercial or propaganda videos from any side. I don't want to be poisoned by any of this SuperPAC or candidate money pouring into the race.
As for Seal Team Six saying Obama didn't kill OBL. Well, obviously. Only one person executed bin Laden. But the SEAL operators also refused to acknowledge to Obama (or anyone else) which one of them pulled the trigger (twice). That's because they consider it a team effort. Just like I consider it an incredible accomplishment by our intelligence agencies, administration and military. All had to work in unison to bring that mass murderer to justice.

Yes he may have inherited debt, but he has spiraled it out of control. Also, if this Obamacare is so "great" why doesn't our dear President and member of The House and Senate have the same coverage?? So, the national debt is worse, we get healthcare that our own president and lawmakers don't even want, jobs are not being created. Listen to what he promised for "change" and he's just as guilty for not keeping his word. His change is costing us even more. Not what I want for myself or my children in the future. Wake up people. He didn't have enough experience for this job.
Red Jackson August 17, 2012 at 11:45 am
Give it up, Mike and ML, you're trying to talk sense to the senseless.
Red Jackson August 17, 2012 at 12:00 pm
CC - no one believes this nonsense for a minute. First of all, that's not how polling works, if you don't answer the questions, they won't talk to you and she is getting paid by the call. She's not going to sit on the phone with you for an hour. Second, you can't even write a proper sentence, I'm so sure that you were able to hold her interest with your nutty rants. Ridiculous! What color is the sky in your fantasy world, anyway?
Art Wegweiser August 17, 2012 at 04:29 pm
Like it or not, "communist" Obama is the Commander-in-Chief and, as such gets the ultimate blame for bad things and the credit for the good. The blatant editing and omissions on that bin Laden tape produced by the former military people has the odor of GOP all over it. If that is a non-partisan group, then I am the Deputy Queen of England.
cc August 17, 2012 at 07:51 pm
Red Jackson your the senseless person along with ml and a few others on here. Guess what your opinions don't matter and aren't worth a grain of salt.
Mike understand what your saying and maybe sometime after the election you can watch the video, it has a lot of enlightening things in there.
cc August 17, 2012 at 07:54 pm
The current administration needs to go as they are a joke. obama and his posses should not be releasing information that Military, CIA, FBI has fought for years to keep quiet. Then again his teleprompter probably wasn't working.

why is it i read this comedy and always come back to it and reassure myself that the stupidity of certain commentors( on this nothing better to do site) are so well informed about elections. news flash !!! congress has done nothing this year!!!! yes the ones yins voted into congress, yins know this, they write bills ,pass laws do what's best for their citizens.opps sorry ,i meant their lobbiest not citizens, you know the ones that take office and promise change ,,that is till them lobby people make them da deal that they can't refuse. the chef always gets the blame when the inGREEDience is altered or ignored.
Tom W. August 19, 2012 at 05:16 pm
Jon Wain, your right that the President (chief always gets the blame). That’s because he is the leader of this county. Just like a coach of a football team is their leader. If a football coach did such a bad job as this President he would have been fired a long time ago. A good leader brings people together, all Obama did was separate with class warfare, and racism and scare tactics. This county is swirling down hill and he as Chief and Commander is to blame. Name one promise that he said while he was running for president that he kept. He said from his own lips that if he didn't turn the deficit around in the first year that he would be a one term President, yet he's running again.
Tom W. August 19, 2012 at 05:22 pm
Jon Wain, by the way the comment (why is it i read this comedy and always come back to it and reassure myself that the stupidity of certain commentors( on this nothing better to do site)) that I alway see your comments. You must not have nothing better to do. Look no farther than your self.

ml totally understand your ignorant ways and how you twist things around after you make stupid remarks. I wouldn't wish you a teacher of a feral cat as you know nothing about anything.

Here is a very good, nonpartisan article explaining federal spending. It is a fact that federal spending under Obama was much less than previous presidents. This is not to completely credit Obama with lower spending, or even advocate the lower spending; it is just a fact.
"Although there was a big stimulus bill under Obama, federal spending is rising at the slowest pace since Dwight Eisenhower brought the Korean War to an end in the 1950s." http://www.marketwatch.com/story/obama-spending-binge-never-happened-2012-05-22?pagenumber=1
Erin Conners August 19, 2012 at 06:58 pm
Please remember that both parties are trying to demonize the opposition. A budget for federal spending is already set by the previous president for the first year of a new presidential term. The article above explains this very well without a political leaning.
TaterSalad August 26, 2012 at 03:41 pm
Can someone please tell me why Oiho (Obama's new spelling of the state) citizens continue to support and vote for Sen. Sherrod Brown-nose and Barack Obama. They have the same ideology and are driving Ohio business's to Indiana and Pennsylvania and other states. Evidently these citizens place the Democratic Party before there families and jobs! Sad..............and true! Thank you Ohio for the jobs! Keep up the good work. I like the paycheck instead of an unemployment check! Ha, ha, ha!
cc August 26, 2012 at 06:41 pm
One group that obummer did lose union support is from the Coal Miners. Now 35% of all unions in the United States are backing Romney/Ryan Ticket obummer didn't create the jobs he promised in his campaign in 2008.

I'm sick and tired of these flip flopping, lying Ken Doll types the the Republican party elects to their Presidential and VP nominations. Since there are not enough rabid right wingers in swing states to elect such Republicans, the party is trying to simply exclude anyone who can't afford new photo ID's, namely the low income minorities and seniors who are unlikely to vote Republican. The voter ID law's stated purpose was to supposedly prevent people from illegally voting under a different identity-- which is complete hypocracy since research has repeatedly shown that there was no such voter fraud even happening.

Lie #14: If the healthcare bill is so good then why does Congress exempt themselves from the bill? TRUTH: As Think Progress explains, the House bill "does not specifically exempt federal employees — who receive coverage through the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program — from enrolling in the new public plan. Rather, the legislation treats the American government — the largest employer in the country — like any other large employer: it can enroll its employees in the Exchange (where they can choose a public health insurance option) after a period of 2 years." http://ourfuture.org/healthcare/healthreformfactcheck#lie14
