Look for Single-Lane Closures on I-79, I-279

Bridge inspection to begin Wednesday.

Traffic on Interstate 79 and Interstate 279 [Parkway North] will be slowed starting Wednesday because of single-lane closures in both directions at Exit 72 in Franklin Park Borough, PennDOT District 11 announced.

Weather permitting, crews from Michael Facchiano Contracting Inc. of Pittsburgh will inspect the bridges that carry I-79 over I-279. Restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Aug. 31. One lane will be closed at a time and both directions and roadways will not be restricted simultaneously.

PennDOT reminds motorists to use caution, slow down and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. Log on to 511pa.com or call 511 to check traffic conditions on major roadways before traveling.
