Township Employees Strategize Bringing their Children to Work

Children of Cranberry Township employees who participate in Bring Your Child to Work Day this year will get a rigorous orientation to multiple facets of local government life on April 28.  Upon arrival, each child will be presented with a color-coded spreadsheet which sets out, in half-hour increments, the options available for attending various sessions which are scheduled throughout the day from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  The goal is for children to gain an appreciation not only for what their parent does, but to also gain an insider’s view of township operations through a fun and educational experience.

Topics include Engineering Expertise, presented by the Township Engineering staff; Science in the Treatment Lab, which examines how wastewater treatment is monitored at the Township’s Brush Creek plant; Fun in Finance, offering a inside look at government accounting practices; a Police Department tour showcasing the tools of investigation, interrogation and incarceration; a walk along the Audubon Nature Trail, and an examination of turf under a microscope at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course.  A pizza lunch at the golf course Audubon Pavilion and new employee orientation video is also part of the program.
