Starting from Scraps—Composting and Vermicomposting

Jennings Environmental Education Center, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Resources Council, will offer the next installment of the “Eating Green” programs on Sunday, April 10, from 2:00 until 4:30 p.m.  Home gardeners and backyard landscapers won’t want to miss this interactive workshop. The program will introduce the wonder and importance of soil, and provide resources to help individuals turn food scraps, lawn clippings and other organic “wastes” into a valuable soil amendment.

Jennings’ staff and Nancy Martin-Silber of Pennsylvania Resources Council will explain and demonstrate the processes and procedures for backyard composting and setting up a worm box.  Activities will take place both indoors and outdoors.  Pre-registration and payment of $5.00 are required before Friday, April 1st.  Participants may register online at http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/Calendar/ or call 724-794-6011.
