Election 2012: Your Questions For The Candidates In PA 40th Senatorial Race

Democrat Dr. Sharon Brown and Randy Vulakovich, R-Shaler will face off to replace former Sen. Jane Orie in Pennsylvania's 40th district. Here's your chance to pose questions to the candidates.

On Aug. 7, voters in the 40th Senatorial district will chose a candidate to fill the remaining term of former Sen. Jane Orie, who was  to 2 ½ to 10 years in prison after her March conviction of using her legislative staff to perform political work. 

, Republican leaders in Allegheny and Butler counties chose Rep. Randy Vulakovich, R-Shaler, to face Democratic nominee Sharon Brown. 

Vulakovich, a former police sergeant with the Shaler department, was first elected to represent the 30th District in 2007. He replaced former Rep. Jeff Habay, who, like Orie, was convicted of using his staff to do campaign work on state time.

He will face Democrat Dr. Sharon Brown, of McCandless, who was the only 

Brown currently is a nursing administrator for the Allegheny County Community College, according to the Project Vote Smart web site.

She also ran her own consulting firm and was a researcher at the University of California, Irvine. 

She ran an unsuccessful campaign for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2010, losing to Mike Turzai.  

No matter who wins the race to replace her, they may not get the chance to run again for the 40th District.   

A  approved  moves the territory to the other side of the state.
