Update: Adams Police Identify Drivers in Myoma Road Crash

The road was shut down for about three hours Tuesday after one of the cars in the two-vehicle crash caught fire.

Adams Township Police continue to investigate a car crash that sent two people to the hospital and shut down Myoma Road for about three hours Tuesday afternoon.

Police Chief Bill Westerman said Michael Bobbish Jr., 42, of Mars, was driving on Myoma Road towards Mars-Evans City Road at about 2 p.m. when he crossed the center line of the road and lost control of the vehicle.

The car struck Sara Thompson, 83, who was driving a Chrysler sedan in the opposite direction.

“She tried getting away from him, but he came back across and ended up hitting her head on,” Westerman said.

The Nissan Bobbish was driving erupted in flames after the collision, Westerman said. Both Bobbish and Thompson got out of their cars before police arrived on the scene, the chief said.

The drivers were taken by ambulance to an area hospital to be treated for injuries. Westerman said he did not know the extent of their injuries.

The chief said Myoma Road was shut down for about three hours while Adams Area and Callery firefighters extinguished the fire and police reconstruction officers investigated the crash.

Numerous pieces of debris from the car collision also had to be removed from roadway, he said.

Emergency crews routed traffic through the nearby Indian Meadows neighborhood until the road reopened at about 5 p.m.

Westerman said police are continuing to investigate why Bobbish lost control of the vehicle.

Typical driving too fast there. Peters Rd is treated like a drag strip and Franklin & Myoma like a road course.

This intersection is dangerous. I have contacted Penn DOT, Adams Twp, and Metcalfe over the last two years but none of them are willing to do anything about it.

Good luck getting Metcalf to do ANYTHING that is outside of gun control or illegals.
