Motorcycle Accident in Butler County Seriously Injures Two from Gibsonia

Medical helicopters transported the motorcycle driver, rider to Allegheny General Hospital.

Two Gibsonia residents were seriously injured Sunday when the motorcycle on which they were riding crashed in Butler County, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

John E. Leddy, 45, and his passenger, 47-year-old Catherine J. Fielding, were flown to Allegheny General Hospital by medical helicopter, the state police reported.

Leddy is in serious condition, Catherine is listed as critical, according to Stephanie Waite, media communications specialist for West Penn Allegheny Health System.

Leddy lost control of his 1981 Harley-Davison Super Glide as he came through a left curve on Chicora Road/Route 68 in Oakland Township, police said.

Leddy and Fielding were thrown from the motorcycle and slid across the road and over an embankment; both were wearing helmets, according to the police report.

The motorcycle slid into an embankment, police said.

The driver is charged with speeding, the police report states.

Butler Ambulance, Chicora Ambulance and Oneida Valley Rescue responded to the accident.
