Site of Deadly Crash to Be Rebuilt Monday

A young woman and her unborn child were killed in an accident on a 'dangerous curve.'

Construction to straighten the road near the scene of a fatal crash last week will begin on Monday, according to WPXI.

Alyssa McKee, 19, and her unborn child were killed in the accident.

The Zelienople police chief told the Cranberry Eagle that the road has "an odd, weird angle" where the crash happened and that it can "get dangerous when the road gets a little wet or icy."

At least two other fatal crashes have occurred on the roadway, according to the newspaper. A North Sewickley Township woman died on her way to work in 2001 and a motorcyclist was killed when he lost control on the road in 2011.

PennDOT will also replace the Muntz Run Bridge near Route 68's intersection with Ben Venue Road when work begins on Monday. Officials haven't said how long the projects will last.
