UPDATED: Local Men Charged with Beating Cranberry Teen Over Stolen Snowboard

Two teens as of Wednesday were in Butler County Jail on charges they beat up a 16-year-old Cranberry boy on Monday over a stolen snowboard.

Chris Robert Holden, 18, of Northfield Drive in Cranberry, and Christopher Dahlstrom, 19, of Bristol Drive in Seven Fields, were charged with burglary, simple assault, harassment with subjecting another person to physical contact, intimidation of a witness, criminal trespass, conspiracy to commit burglary and criminal use of a communications facility.

According to the criminal complaint that Cranberry police filed, Holden and Dahlstrom pushed their way into the 16-year-old's home on Peters Road at about 2:40 p.m. and began attacking him. The boy's parents were not home at the time, according to Cranberry police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino. 

The back of the boy's head was lacerated. He was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry, where he received several staples.

The boy previously had bought a snowboard from Holden, which later was confirmed as stolen from a business near Holden's home.

According to the criminal complaint, Holden was upset the boy had identified him as the seller to police. Earlier Monday afternoon, a Cranberry detective interviewed Holden about the snowboard, although he did not name the boy while speaking to Holden, the complaint said.

Holden then called Dahlstrom on his cell phone and asked him to come with him to the boy's home. During the beating, Holden threatened to stab the boy if he were to talk to police again, the complaint said.

“They felt he had implicated at least one of them from an investigation last year involving stolen snowboards,” Mascellino said.

Mascellino said the investigation into the stolen snowboards, which began in September, is ongoing.

The men also caused about $500 worth of damage to a wall inside the Peters Road home after shoving the boy into it.

Both suspects remain behind bars, unable to post bond of $25,000 each.

Holden and Dahlstrom originally were scheduled to go before for a preliminary hearing on March 23. That hearing has been moved to 11 a.m. May 18.
