Ross Police Investigate Report of Attempted Carjacking

Victim said she was assaulted in parking lot of Burlington Coat Factory in nearby North Hills Village.

are investigated a report of an attempted carjacking Tuesday evening in the parking lot in the 4800 block of McKnight Road.

Shortly before 7 p.m., a woman told police she was putting her child in her car near the when a man grabbed her from behind and said he wanted her car. The woman told police she screamed and said that her baby was in the car. She said the man refused to let her go, struck her in the face, and then eventually ran off.

Police say she was not seriously hurt.

The suspect is black, in his mid-20s, approximately 6-foot- tall with an average build, and spoke with a deep voice. The victim said he had dark complexion, low cropped hair that was neatly trimmed in a rectangle around his forehead, and a wide nose.

He was wearing a red hoodie with the words 'ECKO RED' in large black or blue letters, and long jean shorts, white tennis shoes, and short white socks, Ross police said.

Police said they are working to obtain surveillance video from the shopping center.
