Renfrew Couple to Stand Trial on Charges of Stealing $20,000 From Cranberry Employer

Roy Brown and Michele Geyer were arrested in December after the state Attorney General's Office investigated.

A Butler County husband and wife are heading to court after being under the guise of overtime.

in Cranberry ordered Michele Geye-Brown, 46, and her husband, Roy Brown, 48, of Reiber Road in Renfrew to stand trial after a preliminary hearing on Friday. 

With assistance from , the state Attorney General's Office conducted the investigation that led to the arrest of the couple in December, Attorney General Linda Kelly said.

According to a criminal complaint, Geyer-Brown and Brown were salaried employees with Festa Radon Technologies Company, on Progress Avenue in Cranberry. Geyer-Brown was office manager and responsible for payroll at the company.

Geyer-Brown electronically diverted funds to her husband under the guise of overtime, according to the complaint. Agents believe Geyer-Brown began manually entering extra hours in the payroll system in 2008 and received about $20,000 in overtime pay for hours that neither she nor her husband worked.

Geyer-Brown is charged with two counts of theft by deception, three counts of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, one count of forgery and one count of misapplication of entrusted property.

Roy Brown is charged with one count of theft by receiving stolen property, one count of theft by deception and one count of theft by unlawful taking or disposition.

The couple is set to be formally arraigned April 3 in the Butler County Court of Common Pleas.
