Nearby: Police Arrest Former Butler County Man in Pine-Richland Child-Luring Incident

The former West Sunbury man, who recently moved to West Deer Township, tried to get a 17-year-old girl to get in the car with him, according to police.

Northern Regional Police have obtained an arrest warrant for the man they say was involved in a child luring incident Monday in Richland Township.

Police Chief Robert Amann said police have arrested Mitchell Gregory Klein, 24 of West Sunbury.

Police and the Pine-Richland School District issued an alert to parents Monday evening after a student reported the incident to them.

Amman said the 17-year-old female student was getting off the bus at about 3 p.m. near her stop at Grandview Drive and Oakhill Drive when a male driver stopped his vehicle and offered her a ride, telling her “It is cold out there.”

The girl refused the ride after the driver asked her the same question three times, Amann said.

After the girl reported the incident to police, Amann said officers began checking with businesses in the area, including the GetGo gas station, for witnesses who may have seen the driver the girl described to police.

The chief said investigators were able to use surveillance video from the gas station that showed the blue Chevy Cavalier Klein was driving to track down Klein.

Amann said Klein recently moved from West Sunbury to the Bakerstown Road area in West Deer.

He was arraigned Wednesday afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Suzanne Blaschak.

When asked prior to his arraignment is he tried to lure the Richland teen into his car, Klein responded, "No, I did not."
