Updated: Police Ask for Public’s Help in Slippery Rock Rape

A 20-year-old woman believes more than one man assaulted her near the Ginger Hill Tavern on Saturday.

State police at Butler are asking for the public’s help after a 20-year-old woman said she was assaulted by multiple men between 1 and 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

The rape happened near the Ginger Hill Tavern, according to police. The restaurant is a few block from the Slippery Rock University campus.

State police spokesman Trooper Dan Kesten said the woman is a student at the school. University officials did send out an e-mail to the students, informing them of the incident.

Kesten said police are reviewing video surveillance taken from near where the woman said the attack occured. A detective also plans to interview several people of interest, Kesten said.

As far as troopers are aware, the woman was not taken to the hospital with any serious physical injuries she recieved in the attack, Kesten said. Details the student gave police about the night are vague, he said.
