Man Injured in I-79 Rollover Crash Near Cranberry Exit

The accident briefly shut down the highway.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 79 were briefly shut down Tuesday morning after a rollover accident between the Cranberry and Evans City exits.

Mark Nanna, administrator for the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, said firefighters and Cranberry EMS responded to the scene at about 6:11 a.m.

The injured driver in the one-car crash was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Pittsburgh, Nanna said. His name and condition were not known.

The highway has since reopened. There is no word yet on what caused the car to flip over. State police continue to investigate the crash, Kovac said.
