Judge Sentences Mars Builder in Child Pornography Case

A former Mars contractor was sentenced in federal court Friday to 37 months in prison followed by 15 years supervised release.

Thomas Stetz, 55, also was ordered to pay a $7,500 fine, according to U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton.

The owner of Tom Stetz Contracting on Caromar Drive in Mars, to one count of possessing material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor.

United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab imposed the sentence on Stetz, who also had an address listed on Lindberg Avenue in Pittsburgh.

According to information presented in court, Stetz had graphic files—the production of which used a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct—on his computer last April.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica Lieber Smolar prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

Hickton commended the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Stetz.
