Investigators Find Body of Missing Clearfield Man in Brush Creek

After a three-hour search, investigators found the body of a missing Clearfield County man in the bed of Brush Creek in Cranberry Township Wednesday afternoon.

Lt. Kevin Meyer said it appeared 53-year-old Daniel Joseph Greenland died of natural causes. Police are still for waiting autopsy results, he said.  

“There is nothing pointing to anything other than a natural death,” Meyer said.

Greenland, who co-owned the family-run Greenland Construction in Clearfield, was in the township because his company, which specializes in water and wastewater construction, is working on the parallel sewer line interceptor project. The roughly $5 million project adds a second sanitary sewer line leading to the Brush Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant on Powell Road.

Meyer said it is unknown exactly what Greenland was doing at the creek before he died.

“We don’t know for sure why he was out there,” he said.

He said officers, members of the and , along with search dogs from PAWS K-9 Search and Rescue, began searching for Greenland after his family notified police he was missing at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Meyer said crews in a STAT MedEvac helicopter flying above the area spotted Greenland’s body in the creek bed at about 4:30 p.m.
