UPDATED: Franklin Road Reopens After Car Crashes into Tree

The driver was taken by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian.

Franklin Road in Cranberry is reopened after being shut down for more than an hour Friday when a car crashed into a tree.

Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said the driver, whose name has not been released, was driving north on Franklin Road at about 12:30 p.m. when he lost control control of his car for an unknown reason.

The driver struck several trees, Mascellino said.

The driver was taken by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. Mascellino said the driver's injuries appeared serious, but not life-threatening.

He was conscious when police, Cranberry EMS and Cranberry firefighters arrived on the scene, Mascellino said. The driver was the only person in the car.

The road was closed between North Boundary and Goehring roads. It reopened around 2 p.m.
