UPDATED: Franklin Road Reopens After Crews Replace Broken Telephone Pole

The road was shut down completely from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Franklin Road reopened Friday evening after crews from Penn Power replaced a broken telephone pole.

The road was shut down completely between Peters Road and Peace Street from about 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Sgt. Chuck Mascellino, of , said the pole sustained minor damage after a car struck it on Tuesday. Friday’s high winds, however, were enough to crack the pole further, causing it to lean on the telephone wires above Franklin Road.

“Apparently the winds started to move it around,” Mascellino said. “We closed the road to make sure the lines didn’t come down.”
