Former Seneca Valley JROTC Instructor Gets Prison Sentence

Butler County judge sentences Kevin Johnson to 11 to 22 ½ years in prison.

An ex-Seneca Valley Junior ROTC instructor is heading to prison for at least a decade.

Butler County Common Pleas Judge Timothy McCune on Friday sentenced Kevin Johnson to 11 to 22 ½ years in prison.

In December, the 54-year-old retired Army sergeant major from Portersville was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young man . The charges included involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, a first-degree felony.

Charges were first filed against Johnson after his arrest in February 2008. His first trial in 2009 ended in a mistrial after Len Keller, the then-police chief of Jackson Township, testified that Johnson had declined to submit to a polygraph test. The test results are not admissible in court. The second trial did not take place until December 2011.
