Calls handled by the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, March 17-22

Cranberry Township volunteer firefighters cut a woman out of her minivan after she and the driver of a pickup truck collided on Route 19 near the intersection with Ehrman Road around 11 a.m. on Monday.

Fire administrator Mark Nanna said the minivan had flipped on its side and the driver was suspended by her seatbelt. He said the woman was conscious as firefighters cut the roof from her vehicle.

She was transported by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital on Pittsburgh’s North Side, according to Nanna. Her injuries were unknown.

Nanna said the driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Firefighters quickly knocked out a small fire that started in the bathroom of a home on Goehring Road around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fire Company President Bruce Hezlep said a malfunctioning fan in the bathroom caught fire and dropped to the floor, catching a rug on fire. Hezlep said the flames did not damage other rooms in the home. No one was hurt.

Firefighters were dispatched to the at the intersection of Rochester Road and Powell Road around 7:30 p.m. on March 17, after a wire was reported sparking on the roof of the building. Crews quickly identified the source of the sparking and returned to the station around 9 p.m.
