Suspicious Blaze Destroys Vacant Cranberry Home

The early morning fire is being investigated by the fire marshal.

Fire officials are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed an empty house on North Boundary Road near Route 19 in Cranberry Township early Wednesday morning.

Mark Nanna, administrator at the said the two-alarm fire started around 2 a.m. The house already was engulfed by flames when firefighters arrived, he said. 

It took volunteers roughly 21 minutes to knock it down, he said. They were assisted on the scene by firefighters from Marshall Township, Callery, and Evans City. No one was injured.

The blaze is under investigation by the state police fire marshal. Trooper Brian Crouch said he is unsure where the fire started in the home. A K-9 officer will be brought in to help determine the cause of the blaze, he said. 

The home is owned by North Boundary Partners, LP, according to Cranberry police.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on the fire, or who may have noticed suspicious activity near the home, to call at 724-776-5180.
