District Court: Man Charged with Having Marijuana Mailed to His Home

A Cranberry man remains in Butler County Jail Thursday on charges he sent $10,000 cash in the mail in exchange for more than two pounds of marijuana.

Joseph J. Jetkiewicz, Jr., 54, of Lincolnshire Drive, Cranberry, was charged with drug possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to possess drugs with an intent to deliver.

According to the criminal complaint filed by state police, a United States postal inspector on Feb. 22 intercepted a suspicious package from California addressed to Jetkiewicz’s home. After opening the package, investigators discovered 2 pounds, 11 ounces of marijuana, the complaint said.

The drugs were repackaged and a controlled delivery took place at Jetkiewicz's home on Feb. 23. According to the criminal complaint, Jetkiewicz told police he had sent $10,000 cash in a parcel to the source in California in exchange for the marijuana. He also admitted to recently receiving more than 20 parcels at his home, each containing about 3 pounds of marijuana, the complaint said. After executing a search warrant for the home, investigators found a large sum of money in a bedroom safe, four digital scales, spoons with suspected drug residue, a bag of pills, seven smoking pipes and seven containers of marijuana.

Drug Charges

  • Matthew M. Franciscus, 29, of Treesdale Drive, Cranberry, was charged with four counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, two counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, simple assault and disorderly conduct while engaged in fighting. eported they were dispatched to at about 6:40 a.m. on Feb. 22 because of a fight in progress with security in the hospital’s waiting room. According to the criminal complaint, a nurse and two security guards were trying to restrain Franciscus, who was screaming and spitting while fighting to break free of them. After the waiting room was cleared, Franciscus continued to fight to get away from police. After searching Franciscus’ pants, investigators found bags containing a small amount of marijuana, cocaine and LSD.
  • Augustine J. Dunn, 21, of North Sheridan Avenue, Pittsburgh, was charged with two counts of drug possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of a communication facility. According to the criminal complaint, Dunn sold six doses of MDMA worth $90 to an informant working with the Butler County Drug Task Force. The exchange took place June 10 in the parking lot in front of in Cranberry.

DUI

  • Margaret C. McMaster, 39, of Nelson Lane, Zelienople, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol, careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes. Cranberry police reported McMaster was seen driving erratically on Route 19 near on Nov. 19. Police said McMaster’s blood-alcohol level was 0.30 percent, exceeding the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent.
  • Robert William Smith, 36, of Bellfield Court, Gibsonia, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol and careless driving. Cranberry police Smith crashed the SUV he was driving into the back of truck that was stopped at a red light near the intersection of Freedom Road and Executive Drive on Oct. 23. Police said Smith’s blood-alcohol level was 0.126 percent, exceeding the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent.
  • Ryan M. Miller, 21, of Garvin Road, Cranberry, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a small amount of marijuana for personal use. Cranberry police reported they observed the car Miller was driving parked in the parking lot of the Cranberry Chrysler Jeep car lot at about 4 a.m. on Dec. 30. According to the criminal complaint, police found a backpack containing a small amount of marijuana in a glass jar and a scale inside the car. There also were several plastic bags, one of which contained a small amount of marijuana, according to the complaint. Police said Smith’s blood-alcohol level was 0.151 percent, exceeding the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent. A blood test also showed Miller had THC, which is found in marijuana, in his system.
