District Court: Drug and DUI Charges

The following people were charged and waived their scheduled July 6 preliminary hearings before

Matthew Daniel Anderson, 23, of Upper Service Road, Hookstown, was charged with four counts of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver, two counts of criminal use of a communications facility and two counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance.

On May 12, 2009, a confidential informant working with and the Butler County Drug Task Force arranged to purchase marijuana from Anderson through cell phone and text communication, according to the criminal complaint filed by Cranberry Township police.

The informant met with Anderson at about 9:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the Quaker Steak and Lube on Freedom Road in Cranberry and purchased 27.7 grams of marijuana from Anderson, the complaint said. On June 3, the informant purchased 29.2 grams of marijuana from Anderson, again in the parking lot of the Quaker Steak and Lube.

  • Jared Poydence, 30, of Farmington Road, Cranberry, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol, careless driving and speeding. According to the criminal complaint filed by Cranberry police, officers responded to a home on Franklin Road at about 1 a.m. April 13 after Poydence crashed the car he was driving near the driveway of the residence. According to the criminal complaint, Poydence’s blood-alcohol level was 0.126 percent, exceeding the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent.
  • Ashley Nicole Humble, 22, of Callery Road, Cranberry, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol and driving over the road divider. At about 3 a.m. on April 14, Cranberry police were called to Route 19 at Victory Drive after Humble crashed the car she was driving into a sidewalk on Victory Drive, causing both tires to blow out. According to the criminal complaint filed by police, Humble first failed to see the raised center median on Route 19 and struck it. The car careened across both northbound lanes of Route 19 and struck a raised curb on Victory Drive before stopping, the complaint said. According to the criminal complaint, Humble’s blood-alcohol level was 0.182 percent, exceeding the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent.
  • Debra L. Rill, 46, of Joan Street, Cranberry, was charged with driving under the influence and driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol. According to the criminal complaint file by Cranberry police, officers were called to Holly Drive at about 10:45 p.m. April 29 after Rill crashed the car she was driving into a tree near Holly Drive and Ash Court. According to the criminal complaint, Rill’s blood-alcohol level was 0.143 percent, exceeding the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Statutory Sexual Assault

Joseph Dean Butler, 19, of Bellford Court, Cranberry, was charged with statutory sexual assault. According to the criminal complaint filed by Cranberry Police, Butler had oral and vaginal sex with a 14-year-old Cranberry girl three to four times between June 6 and June 16.  According to the girl’s mother, her daughter ended her relationship when Butler on June 19 after she discovered he was 19, not 17 as he told her, the complaint said.
