Crime Blotter: Forgery, Thefts and Drug Charges

Charles Robert Reis, 24, of Summerfield Drive, Baden, faces formal arraignment Sept 26 on seven counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of driving under the influence and illegal parking. According to the criminal complaint,  found Reis passed out in the driver’s seat of a car about 1:15 p.m. June 4 at the intersection of Route 19 and Route 228. The car was stopped in the northbound through lane of Route 19, the complaint said.

It wasn’t the first time.

One day earlier, Cranberry officers found Reis passed out in the driver’s seat in a different car at the intersection of Freedom Road with the exit of the Cranberry Mall. After being taken into custody, Reis was released to his mother the same day, the complaint said.

After a search of the car Reis was driving in the June 4 incident, officers found a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana and a pipe made of aluminum. Two packages of rolling papers were found in the center console, the complaint said.

Forgery

Tracy Charlier, 42, of Edward Drive, Harmony, will be formally arraigned Sept. 13 on charges of theft, identity theft and forgery after Cranberry police said she stole and cashed 15 unauthorized checks worth $3,210 between Dec. 3, 2010, and April 25, 2011.

The checks were taken from a home Charlier cleaned on Waterford Court in Cranberry, according to the complaint. Charlier cashed the checks at the BI-LO grocery store in Zelienople, the complaint said.

Charlier also used the homeowner’s checking account to make $901 worth of cell phone payments to T-Mobile between Dec. 29, 2010, and March 29, 2011. Police said she also stole a $50 Giant Eagle gift card and a $50 Pizza Hut gift card from her employer's home while she worked there.

Theft

Cynthia Marie Walsh, 36, of Maplewood Avenue, Ambridge, faces formal arraignment Sept. 13 on charges of theft, receiving stolen property, writing bad checks and using a revoked access device.

On April 9, an asset protection officer from Costco Wholesale reported a bad check worth $172.31 that Walsh wrote Oct. 10 at the . The check was returned to Costco and stamped “account closed,” according to the criminal complaint. Walsh also failed to make compensation to Costco once she was notified of the bad check, the complaint said.

Drug Charges

  • After a Butler County Drug Task Force investigation, Charles Robert Becker, 26, of Cleveland, OH will be formally arraigned Aug 30 on charges of drug possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance. While under detectives surveillance, Becker sold a confidential informant $200 worth of heroin about 10:30 p.m. July 15 in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn on Executive Drive. At a traffic stop after the exchange, Becker was taken into custody without incident, the complaint said.
  • A Butler man faces formal arraignment Aug. 30 on two counts of drug possession with intent to deliver and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Butler County detectives said that about midnight April 1, Terry Dean McClimans Jr., 26, of North Street sold eight bags of heroin to a confidential informant in Zelienople.

DUI

  • Glenn Murdock, 58, of Hunting Ridge Trail, Cranberry, will be formally arraigned Oct. 3 on charges of driving under the influence, driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol and disregarding traffic lanes. Cranberry police said that about 2:20 a.m. April 28, Murdock weaved his car in between lanes on Route 19. After turning his car onto Rochester Road and traveling below the underpass for the Turnpike, he almost struck a concrete bridge, the criminal complaint said. Police said his blood alcohol content was 0.248 percent. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08 percent.
  • Charles Steinmetz, 49, of Hampshire Drive, Cranberry, will be formally arraigned Oct. 3 on charges of driving under the influence, driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol, failure to keep right and driving over a divider. Police said that about 1:30 a.m. May 1 Steinmetz was seen traveling into the oncoming traffic lane while driving north on Route 19. Police said his blood alcohol content was 0.128 percent. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08 percent.
  • Sean James Scott, 29, of Hall Road, Butler, will be formally arraigned Oct. 3 on two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, failure to use turning signals and disregarding traffic lanes. Police stopped Scott about 12:30 a.m. May 23 after reports of a reckless driver on Route 228. Police said results from a blood test showed Scott had oxycodone, which was not prescribed to him, and other drugs in his system when he was pulled over.
  • Daniel Antanaitis, 46, of Oakwood Drive, Valencia, will be formally arraigned Sept. 26 on charges of driving under the influence and disregarding traffic lanes. Police said Antananitis had trouble staying in a single lane on Route 19 about 1:25 a.m. May 25. Police said Antanaitis refused to submit to a blood draw.
