Crime Blotter: Fighting and Thefts

A Cranberry Township teen will be formally arraigned May 17 on charges that he fought with police.

Brandon Allan Myers, 19, of Wyndmere Drive, is charged with resisting arrest. According to the criminal compliant, Cranberry police found Myers walking in the parking lot area of Concord Way after they were called to the Old Town Apartments complex about 3 a.m. on March 27 for a disturbance call.

Police said Myers became agitated and accused officers of trying to kill him. According to the criminal complaint, he also told police that he had taken three hits of acid. After police tried to arrest him, Myers began flailing his arms and kicking his legs. Patrolman William Roberts had an abrasion and a cut on his right hand and wrist after Myers struck him, according to the complaint.

An ambulance took Myers to UPMC Passavant Cranberry. After he became agitated again, police said he was taken Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for a possible drug overdose.  

Indecent assault

A Slippery Rock man will be formally arraigned on May 17 on charges that he inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl.

Cranberry Police charged Donald Schrader, 44, with indecent assault of a person younger than 16. According to the complaint, the incident, which took place in December, was reported to police in February. According to the complaint, Schrader was seated beside the girl at a home on Grandshire Drive in Cranberry and caressed her upper leg with his hand.

Theft

Timothy Coll, of Fezell Road, Freedom, will be formally arraigned May 17 on charges of theft by deception, receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit theft.

According to the criminal complaint that Cranberry Township police filed, Coll, who was working as a dispatcher with Parks Moving and Storage on Commonwealth Drive in Cranberry Township, paid another employee for hours he did not work in exchange for cocaine or for a share of the money.  An internal audit of pay records showed that between January 2007 and Dec 2010, Coll overpaid the employee a total of about $62,000.

Coll also told police he took a flat-screen television valued at $500 from the storage area of the company without permission.

Retail theft

  • Gary Wimberly, 40, of Shorty Lane, Rochester, will be formerly arraigned May 10 on a charge of retail theft. Cranberry Police said Wimberly left the Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Cranberry on Jan. 31 without paying for items, including a shower head and a glass scale, that he had concealed inside his sweatshirt and inside a box he had placed in his shopping cart. According to the criminal complaint, the merchandise was worth $183.

  • Annette McGregor, 67, of Laurel Oak Drive, Sewickley, will be formally arraigned May 10 on charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property. According to Cranberry Township police, McGregor concealed four DVDs and a box of eye solution in her purse while at the Costco March 23 in Cranberry. Management stopped McGregor before she left the store. According to the criminal complaint, the merchandise was worth $60.

  • Dario Dibenedetto, 59, of Church Road, Wexford, will be formally arraigned May 10 on charges of theft and receiving stolen property. According to the criminal complaint, Cranberry Township police were called to the Walmart on Route 19 in Cranberry about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 12 for a report of an employee stealing items. According to the criminal complaint, Dibenedetto was taking items from the store without paying from them and not ringing up customers for items that they were bringing to him at the cash register. According to the criminal complaint, the merchandise taken over a one-year period was worth $1,315.

  • Chad Slappo, 29, of Nordheim Road, Sewickley, will be formally arraigned May 10 on charges of retail theft, receiving stolen property and defiant trespass. Cranberry Township police said that about noon March 22, Slappo was seen placing merchandise from the Walmart on Route 19 in his pockets, under his shirt and in his pants. Management stopped him before he left the store with items. According to the criminal complaint, the merchandise was worth $260.Police said Slappo had been banned from all Walmart stores because of a prior theft from the Walmart store in Washington County in January. Earlier in the day, Slappo also returned $206 worth of merchandise that he took from the Home Depot in Cranberry in exchange for store credit. The store canceled the store merchandise credit after learning of the theft from police, according to the complaint.

  • DUI

    • Paul Andrew Culbertson, 37, of Highland Avenue, Pittsburgh, will be formally arraigned on May 23 on charges of driving under the influence and driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol. Cranberry Township police said that about midnight Dec. 17, 2010, Culbertson was braking unnecessarily on Route 19 before coming to a complete stop near the Cranberry Township Fire Station. After he accelerated sharply, he almost rear-ended another vehicle, according to police. Police said Culbertson’s blood alcohol content was 0.181 percent. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08 percent.

    • Vincent Gaudio, 18, will be formally arraigned on May 23, on charges of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, and unauthorized modification of equipment. State police at Butler said that about midnight January 6, Gaudio was pulled over for speeding on Interstate 79 near the Jackson Township exit. After a search of the vehicle, police said they found a pipe used for smoking marijuana. Gaudio tested positive for marijuana at UPMC Cranberry Passavant, according to the complaint.

  • Kimberly Wojciechowski, 30, of Fombell Road in Fombell, will be formally arraigned May 23 on charges of driving under the influence, driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol, careless driving, and disregarding traffic lanes. Cranberry Township police said that on Jan. 15, Wojciechowski drove erratically near the intersection of Graham Park Drive and Rochester Road. Police said Wojciechowski’s blood alcohol content was 0.218 percent. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08 percent.

  • Sharon Canonaco, 40, of Sewickley Farms Circle, Mars, will be formally arraigned May 23, on charges of driving under the influence, driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol, and driving with no headlights. Cranberry Township police said that about midnight Jan. 3, Canonaco was driving without her headlights on Freedom Road near Executive Drive. Police said Canonaco’s blood alcohol content was 0.202 percent. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08 percent.
