Cranberry Welcomes New Fire Police Members

Township officials swore in three officers on Thursday.

Cranberry has three new fire police officers.

administered the oath of office for the positions to Andrew Metarko, George Banovski and Joseph Minkel at the beginning of Thursday’s board of supervisors meeting.  

The latest additions bring the number of fire police officers to nine. Bruce Hezlep, president of the said this is the largest number of fire police officers in department history.

Fire police officers are the people you often see on the side of the road directing traffic in an emergency situation. They also provide crowd control and security as needed.

As members of the fire department, they must obtain county or state certification in fire police operations.
