Cranberry Professional Park Building Evacuated After Gas Leak

Cranberry firefighters respond to a gas leak at Salon Z.

A building in the Cranberry Professional Park was briefly evacuated Monday afternoon after a gas leak was discovered in Salon Z.

Capt. Dennis Kimmel said Cranberry firefighters were called to the building at the intersection of Smith Drive and Route 19 after a strong odor of natural gas was detected in the air.

Crews shut off gas to the building after a leak was discovered inside Salon Z, which is located in the basement of building, he said.

Kimmel said about 20 people were cleared from the building as a precaution. They were let back in about 15 minutes later after firefighters ventilated the building by opening the windows.

Salon Z is the only business in the building, which also houses Renaissance Day Spa, Advanced Dental Care and Siess Chiropractic Clinic, to use natural gas service, Kimmel said. The others have electric.

Columbia Gas is investigating the cause of the leak, Kimmel said.

The follow up to this story is that it had nothing to do with Cranberry Professional Park or the businesses mentioned or the erroneous information that was posted.. The problem stemmed from a situation that a business down the street had and was coming from their front lawn. The force of the wind gusts made it appear to be coming from the Cranberry Professional Park building location and that was never the case. The situation was immediately addressed by Columbia Gas and no longer exists.
Pictures, businesses mentioned, really! Follow up and follow through before maligning a business. It is difficult enough to do business in this economy without having scary stories spread around town and all over the net. Due diligence before reporting!
