Cranberry Police Investigate Home Invasion Attempt on Dutilh Road

Investigators are looking for anyone being treated for a gunshot wound after the attempted burglary this morning.

Cranberry police are investigating an attempted home invasion this morning at a home off Dutilh Road and are searching for anyone who may have been shot before fleeing.

Police responded at 3:54 a.m. to a report of a home invasion in which shots were fired. The home at 73-B Dutilh Road is not visible from the road and is set back at the end of a gravel driveway in a wooded area between Dutilh Road and Interstate 79.

A man who was leaving the home around 9:30 a.m said someone broke into the home this morning but he did not believe anyone was home at the time. That man identified himself as the homeowner but would not give his name.

A neighbor this morning said police also were searching yesterday in the woods near the home. The reason for that activity is not clear.

Investigators are not releasing other information about the incident but said they expect to make a statement later today.
