Cranberry Police Garner AAA Safety Award

The department earns honors for its traffic safety promotion.

The has earned AAA East Central's platinum award for its community traffic safety efforts.

The department is recognized this month with more than 40 other Pennsylvania police agencies for roadway safety enforcement. The awards are given annually to community police departments that conduct traffic safety promotions and educate the public on safety topics.

The platinum award is the greatest honor departments can earn in the program. State police at Butler, Pittsburgh and Findlay were among the local departments who garnered the program's highest-ranking honors.

AAA Safety Adviser J.J. Miller said departments that earned the award "went above and beyond the call of duty," organizing community traffic safety projects.
