It isn’t Halloween yet, but area residents should be on the lookout for anyone wearing a fake beard.
State police in Fayette County are searching for a couple wanted for numerous thefts at Walmart stores in the Pittsburgh region, including the location in Cranberry Township.
The first theft was reported at Aug. 11 at a store in Connellsville, according to police. Investigators later learned the same couple stole items from the Walmart stores in Cranberry and Irwin.
All together, the pair has stolen $30,000 worth of merchandise from various locations, according to Walmart officials.
Investigators said the man wore a fake beard to disguise himself during at least one of the thefts.
Police said the man operates by taking apart locks on electronic equipment cases and then placing the electronics in a bag or container, then carries them out of the store while his partner acts as a lookout for him.
